Spreading the Gospel on the Internet -- Post 1.

Sure many preachers and churches are involved in spreading the Gospel on TV and cable. However the Internet may be the greatest medium to take the Gospel worldwide. Why do I feel the Gospel may hold more potential online, even more than TV?

1. First there is more of a need for the Gospel online. There is more destructive information online that includes racism, sexism, various forms of child abuse, and terrorism to state a few. If there is so much negative online should we Christians be a counter balance to this with more positive Christ-like information?

2. Promotion of the Gospel by-and-large is cheaper than expensive national TV production.

3. The Internet is more interactive than TV. With TV you can primarily change the channel, record a program, change the volume or contrast -- and that's about it. On the other hand with the Internet you can:

- eMail, IM, or post your opinion on sites

- Listen to audio or video podcasts

- Engage in multimedia tutorials like Camtasia or Macromedia Captivate

- Make payments online

- Translate your website into another language and of course...

- Link and search for related topical information.

Plus the Internet is truly an International media which will have boundless borders in the future. In our next article I will delve further into why Christians should have a serious Internet program for spreading the Gospel.
