BET Produces Promising Gospel Talk Show

By Internet Evangelist Rev. Kamau Austin

It is really exciting to see how far Black and Urban Gospel Culture is being accepted by the mainstream entertainment industry. They can't stop God's blessings and so they will just have to acknowledge the rise of this industry with new movies - plays and TV programming.

Although BET is known and sometimes criticized for its primary focus on Young Urban Hip Hop as its bed and butter programming, it has always produced and perhaps profited from Gospel programming albeit primarily on Sundays. I understand BET this weekend is to start the Meet the Faith Program.

I am anxious to see the first episode featuring TD Jakes. Let's pray that this talk show helps us to reason together. Check out the 411 below.

MEET THE FAITH is a dynamic new half-hour Sunday talk show that offers a fresh and provocative take on world events through deep moral discussion, a surprising and unexpected blend of guests, and unconventional topics hosted by news analyst Carlos Watson.

This week's premiere episode includes a one-on-one discussion with Bishop T. D. Jakes to discuss his latest ventures including his brand new book and a panel discussion with Reverend Eugene Rivers; comedian, rapper and entertainer Joe Clair; and conservative strategist Tara Setmayer.

MEET THE FAITH premieres at 11:00 am ET/PT with an encore 8:00 pm ET/PT Sunday, May 7 on BET.
